“Meanwhile on the Skuzz stage Idiom (8/10) throw a post-hardcore
slant on everything from RATM, Sikth to Strapping Young Lad. Idiom's music pulsates around the Bar Academy like a thousand drills punctured by unhinged bouts of melodic ecstasy. Thrilling stuff!” Hellfire Festival review.Rock Matrix 24 Feb 2009
28th July 2006 – Exeter Phoenix (supporting Skindred)
"IDIOM hit the stage with a bang; a bit of an upgrade from their usual Exeter haunts, the Phoenix stage was overtaken in a burst of adrenaline fuelled funk-metal from one of Devon's best loved metal bands.
As is the case with IDIOM gigs, the crowd was lively, energetic and a little bit raucous in places; it didn't take long for the mosh pit to appear, and when it did the crowd were hanging on every guitar lick and vocal spurt that IDIOM produced.
No matter where they play it seems that IDIOM is accepted, appreciated and enjoyed by any and every metal fan that crosses their path; their distinctive Rage Against the Machine-cum-One Minute Silence blend of lyrical fistfights, nauseating guitar thrashing and the drumming equivalent of picking a fight with a pack of bears. Not to mention the intricate bass lines and a vocal range that could outdo even the most established of front men.
Forty-five minutes later and a very exuberant IDIOM are leaving the stage to vigorous applause and screams, making way for headliners Skindred.

“A mixture of everything and appealing to everyone!” Rockbeast.com, Feb 2009 “With a hardcore vibe to their live approach, IDIOM’s throbbing, pulsating sound is a thrill to behold and the constantly twisting, turning approach to the songwriting definitely keeps things interesting. 8/10.” Metalhammer, May 2009
"...In the blink of an eye Idiom can change from a laid back sound cruising along with the likes of Incubus then blasts into RATM - esque with a metal edge. Idiom are a mixture of everything it seems and appealed to basically everyone in the Cavern tonight who cheered and danced until the very end of their set." - Rockbeast.com Feb. 2006 |
